Dictly.Live v2.1: Better Practice on Every Screen
Dictly.Live v2.1 makes Mandarin listening practice smoother on mobile and short screens, with voice input, faster answer feedback, reliable vocabulary, and clearer support replies.
Serious Mandarin listening practice should not fall apart when you move from a wide desktop monitor to a phone—or pause every time the app checks an answer.
Dictly.Live v2.1 makes the v2 Challenge Loop faster, clearer, and easier to use across devices. The release brings a mobile-first practice layout, immediate answer feedback, optional voice input, stronger keyboard support, more reliable vocabulary data, and a better way to hear back after sending feedback.
What's new
-
Practice that fits the screen. On mobile, you can swipe between Personal progress, the Boss Stage, and Vocabulary while keeping the same episode selected. Once a challenge begins, the current sentence, answer input, and feedback take priority. Short desktop screens also keep essential controls visible while longer content scrolls inside its panel.
-
Feedback that arrives with the answer. Wrong answers now show their character-level feedback immediately, so you can correct the sentence without waiting for the mistake to finish saving. Correct answers trigger clearer Boss hit and HP feedback, while distinct sounds mark mistakes, correct answers, growing combos, and the final victory.
-
More ways to enter what you heard. In supported browsers, voice input can fill characters starting from your selected answer slot. You remain in control: the result can be confirmed or cancelled, and voice input never submits the answer automatically. Full keyboard support also covers playback, seeking, answer submission, and pinyin hints without interfering with normal typing or browser controls.
-
Vocabulary you can trust in context. The Vocabulary Panel now uses a finalized word list prepared for each podcast, with confirmed pinyin, contextual English meanings, and 2025 HSK levels. Clearer explanations and a more compact level filter make the panel easier to use without pulling attention away from the audio.
v2.1 also improves the path back from feedback. When the Dictly.Live team leaves a user-visible reply, you can receive it by email, and recent replies can appear as a dismissible notice in the desktop Workspace. The message stays focused on your feedback without exposing internal project identifiers.
Behind the scenes, privacy-safe product analytics now help us understand where learners start, abandon, and complete challenges. Autocapture and Session Replay remain off, and sensitive free text—including dictation answers, subtitles, feedback content, and email addresses—is not sent to analytics.
Why it helps
Dictation works best when the loop stays tight:
Hear it. Hold it. Write it. Check it. Try again.
Every unnecessary wait or layout shift weakens that loop. Immediate mistake feedback keeps your attention on the sound-to-character mismatch while the sentence is still in memory. Stronger visual and audio responses make progress easier to read without replacing the accuracy work itself.
The new mobile and short-screen layouts matter for the same reason. You should be able to complete a focused challenge on the device in front of you, not save serious practice for the next time you have a large monitor.
v2.1 also makes one small but practical scoring correction: 他, 她, and 它 are now accepted as equivalent character-level answers. Spoken Mandarin does not distinguish these pronouns, so your listening score no longer depends on information the audio cannot provide. Your original input and the published transcript remain unchanged.
How to try v2.1
- Sign in to Dictly.Live on your phone or desktop.
- Choose a Ready challenge and preview any unfamiliar vocabulary.
- Start the challenge and answer one sentence at a time.
- Try voice input for character entry, or use the keyboard to keep your hands in the practice flow.
- After a mistake, revise immediately while the sentence is still fresh.
Dictly.Live v2.1 keeps the focus where it belongs: accurate, sentence-level Mandarin listening—now with less friction between hearing the audio and learning from your answer.
